My old Geocities Site received some awards back in the day (1998). To see them go to my awards page at my old site. Awards for websites no longer seem to be the thing to do anymore. At one point almost every website you visited had a host of awards somewhere on the site, especially personal sites. The ones I had received were of the type where you sent the host site your website's URL and they checked it out. If they liked your site and it met their award criteria (sometimes just asking for an award was the only criteria) nine times out of ten they would approve your request for the award and you could add their link and the award's graphic to your site. Some award givers had several different styles of their award to choose from, in those cases I picked the one that either looked the coolest or fit in with my site the best. I have often thought of dropping those awards from my site since the sites that hosted them no longer seem to be the same sites, or no longer host website awards. I do keep them up for the simple reason that an award is an award and it shows that someone else thought you (or your work/skill/what have you) was good enough to show some appreciation for it. So there. | Occasionally I see awards on websites now-a-days but they seem to be few and far between. They are also the type of award that is harder to achieve, so they are more meaningful. I don't foresee klandersen.com winning any awards, but if it does I will add them to this here page here, and get rid of this negative sentence.
